Box Score WICHITA, Kan. — Friends University Women's Tennis were shutout by the McPherson College 7-0, while the men fell by the same score on Monday (Apr. 6). 

The Women's Falcons secured a win at the No. 1 doubles position but could not capture any singles matches against McPherson. 

Friends secured the doubles point against McPherson with a victory at No. 1 doubles where Aneth Diaz and Silva Avakian overcame Bella Ellerbee and Taimi Nashiku, 7-5. However, McPherson captured wins on the other courts, as Vanessa Hofer and Laureen Van Drunen defeated Carlotta Klee and Emma Sargeant, 6-0, at No. 2 doubles, while Maria Luisa de Lama and Eva Lesteluhu beat Cha'Lyse Andrews and Tammy-Ann Lombarth, 6-2, at No. 3 doubles.

In singles, McPherson took control, beginning with Vanessa Hofer's victory over Avakian at No. 1 singles, 6-3, 6-0. Nashiku followed suit at No. 2 singles, defeating Diaz, 6-3, 6-3. Ellerbee continued McPherson's success by winning against Klee, 6-1, 6-0, at No. 3 singles, while Van Drunen secured a 6-1, 6-2 win over Sargeant at No. 4 singles.

Maria Luisa de Lama added another point for McPherson by besting Lombarth, 6-1, 6-3, at No. 5 singles, and Lesteluhu completed the sweep with a 6-4, 6-3 victory over Alana Ewert at No. 6 singles. The final score was McPherson 7, Friends 0.

The Men's Falcons fell to McPherson 7-0. The Falcons secured a victory in the No. 1 doubles match but were unable to capture any singles victories.

Friends University took an early lead by securing the first match at No. 1 doubles. Gabriel Gomes and Cristobal Fuentes defeated Hamish Wyatt and Arthur Nardy, 6-4. McPherson responded quickly, winning the next two doubles matches. Bruno Barrientos Molina and Jayson Wasserfuhr defeated Trey Lacy and Rodrigo Torres, 6-4, at No. 2 doubles, followed by Texas Ranger Schmidt and Balazs Temesvari overcoming Yves Ikuno and Jacob Bush, 6-1, at No. 3 doubles. McPherson clinched the doubles point with these victories.

In singles, McPherson maintained their momentum. At No. 1 singles, Arthur Nardy defeated Fuentes, 7-5, 6-1. Jayson Wasserfuhr extended McPherson's lead at No. 2 singles with a 7-5, 6-2 win over Gomes. Bruno Barrientos Molina continued the winning streak, defeating Torres 6-2, 6-0 at No. 3 singles. McPherson clinched the dual match with Hamish Wyatt's 6-0, 6-1 victory over Lacy at No. 4 singles.

McPherson's dominance in singles was further solidified as Balazs Temesvari defeated Ikuno, 6-1, 6-0, at No. 5 singles, and Davian Spies closed the match with a 6-4, 6-2 win over Seth Ogden at No. 6 singles. The final dual score was McPherson 7, Friends University 0.

The Falcon tennis squads will return to action on Thursday (Apr. 9) at Bethel College. Match time is set for 3:00 p.m. in North Newton, Kan.
