NORTH NEWTON, Kan. - After last week's weather postponement, the Falcons and Threshers completed their match yesterday (Apr. 16), with the Friends University Men's Tennis Falcons dropping a 7–0 decision to No. 15-ranked Bethel College and Women's Tennis also falling, 6–1, to the No. 20-ranked Threshers in North Newton, Kan.

Bethel secured the doubles point with victories across all courts over Men's Tennis. At No. 1 doubles, Zaidh Zihar and Petr Kollar defeated Cristobal Fuentes and Gabriel Gomes, 6-4. The No. 2 doubles match saw Jonah Bergeron and Adam Tomka edge past Trey Lacy and Rodrigo Torres, 7-5. Completing the doubles sweep, Jorge Batista and Rodrigo Sanchez earned a 6-2 win over Yves Ikuno and Gage Marsh at No. 3 doubles.  

In singles, Bethel continued their strong performance. At No. 1 singles, Fuentes of Friends fell to Batista in three sets, 6-7, 6-4, 6-0. Gomes was defeated by Kollar, 6-2, 6-4, at No. 2 singles. No. 3 singles saw Torres losing to Sanchez, 6-3, 6-1. 

Further down the lineup, Lacy faced Zihar at No. 4 singles, with Zihar taking the match, 6-1, 6-2. At No. 5 singles, Ikuno was bested by Tomka, 6-1, 6-0. Finally, Jacob Bush concluded the day for Friends with a loss to Bergeron, 6-1, 6-0, at No. 6 singles. The final dual score was 7-0 in favor of Bethel. 

Women's Tennis fell 6–1 to No. 20-ranked Bethel College, with the Falcons' lone point coming in singles play. At the No. 1 position, 16th-ranked Silva Avakian delivered a standout performance, defeating Bethel's 18th-ranked Daniela Casique in straight sets, 6–1, 6–3. 

Bethel claimed the doubles point with victories across all three courts. At No. 1 doubles, Sara Ladino and Daniela Casique defeated Aneth Diaz and Silva Avakian, 6-4. On the No. 2 court, Patty Huerta and Ximena Raya overcame Carlotta Klee and Emma Sargeant with a 6-2 result. The doubles sweep was completed at No. 3 doubles, where Kate Rowland and Grace Dawes secured a 6-2 victory over Tammy-Ann Lombarth and Cha'Lyse Andrews. 

In singles, Bethel expanded its lead as Ximena Raya bested Carlotta Klee at No. 3 singles, 6-2, 6-1, and Grace Dawes followed with a 6-2, 6-1 win over Emma Sargeant at No. 4 singles. Friends got on the board when Silva Avakian triumphed over Daniela Casique at No. 1 singles, 6-1, 6-3, bringing the dual score to 3-1. 

Bethel clinched the match at No. 2 singles with Sara Ladino's 7-6, 6-3 victory over Aneth Diaz. Adding to their tally, Patty Huerta defeated Tammy-Ann Lombarth at No. 5 singles, 6-0, 7-5, while Charis Yager concluded the competition with a 7-6, 6-2 win against Alana Ewert at No. 6 singles, resulting in a final dual score of 6-1 in favor of Bethel. 

Falcons Tennis will wrap up their regular season with a matchup against Tabor College tomorrow (Apr. 18). The match is set to begin at 11:00 a.m. in Hillsboro, Kan.
