SALINA, Kan. - The Friends University Women's Tennis Falcons fell to Kansas Wesleyan 5-2 yesterday (Apr. 14), while the Men's Tennis Falcons were defeated by the same score. 

Women's Tennis secured two singles victories at the No. 1 and No. 2 positions. While falling in doubles as Kansas Wesleyan secured the point with victories on all three courts. At No. 1 doubles, Rylee Frye and Hayden Bellamy defeated Silva Avakian and Aneth Diaz, 6-2. Corina Salas and Alivia Sherer continued the visitors' success at No. 2 doubles by overcoming Emma Sargeant and Carlotta Klee, 6-1. The No. 3 doubles match concluded with Hailey Adami and Ania Bonner outlasting Tammy-Ann Lombarth and Cha'Lyse Andrews, 7-5.

In singles play, Avakian put Friends on the board with a commanding 6-1, 6-4 win over Bellamy at No. 1 singles. Diaz extended the team's success at No. 2 singles with a hard-fought 7-6 (5), 6-3 victory against Frye. However, Kansas Wesleyan responded by taking the remaining singles matches. Salas defeated Klee, 6-2, 2-6, 6-1, at No. 3 singles, while Sherer edged out Sargeant, 4-6, 6-2, 7-5, at No. 4 singles. Adami clinched the match for the Coyotes with a 7-5, 6-4 win over Lombarth at No. 5 singles. The final score was sealed as Isabella Myers closed the day with a 6-1, 4-6, 6-3 win against Alana Ewert at No. 6 singles.

Men's Tennis secured singles victories at the No. 1 and No. 2 positions but could not overcome losses in all doubles matches.

Kansas Wesleyan secured the doubles point with victories across all three courts. The No. 1 doubles match saw Adam Hanson and Paul Jittawait defeat Gabriel Gomes and Cristobal Fuentes 6-4. At No. 2 doubles, Jacob Phelps and Dawson O'Donnell overcame Rodrigo Torres and Trey Lacy with a 6-3 scoreline. The doubles sweep was completed as Gavin Chavez and Benjamin Cechak bested Jacob Bush and Yves Ikuno 6-2 at No. 3 doubles.

In singles, Friends rallied with wins on the top two courts. Fuentes earned a straight-sets victory at No. 1 singles over O'Donnell, 6-2, 6-3. Gomes followed with a 6-4, 6-3 triumph against Jittawait at No. 2 singles. Despite these efforts, Kansas Wesleyan clinched the dual match by capturing the next four singles contests.

Jacob Phelps defeated Torres 6-3, 6-1 at No. 3 singles, and Adam Hanson secured a 6-3, 6-1 win over Lacy at No. 4 singles. At No. 5 singles, Chavez bested Ikuno 6-3, 6-4, while Jack Hanson rounded out the match with a 6-4, 6-2 victory against Seth Ogden at No. 6 singles. The final dual score was 5-2 in favor of Kansas Wesleyan.

Falcons Tennis will wrap up their regular season with a matchup with Tabor College on Saturday (Apr. 18). The match is set to begin at 11:00 a.m. in Hillsboro, Kan.
