WICHITA, Kan. – Friends University junior Brett Black has been voted as the KCAC Baseball Pitcher of the Week, announced today (Apr. 20) by the conference office. All KCAC Player of the Week awards are sponsored by Athletic Solutions.

Black, the 2024 KCAC Freshman of the Year, blanked the University of Saint Mary Spires over seven innings to help the Falcons capture the series opener in a run-rule 10-0 victory last Friday (Apr. 17). Black had impeccable control with six strikeouts and just one walk with two hits allowed in the complete game effort.

The Wichita product lowered his ERA to 4.53 in the shutout victory and sports an outstanding 36-7 strikeout to walk ratio on the season.

"Very happy for Brett, he's battled through some injuries over the last year," said Friends baseball head coach Adam Neisius.  "Having him back in the weekend rotation has been huge for us."

Black and the 28-19 Falcons have won 12 of their last 13 games and currently sit in the second spot in the KCAC at 22-11 heading into this weekend's regular season series finale at Evangel University in Springfield, Mo.
