Baseball wins 10th straight, longest streak since 2020 with win over Sterling

Box Score

Wichita, Kan. - The Friends University Falcons continued their red-hot stretch on Tuesday afternoon (Apr. 14). The Falcons defeated Sterling College 12-3 to extend their win streak to 10 games, the program's longest since 2020.

Friends set the tone early, responding to a first-inning run from Sterling with a four-run bottom half highlighted by a three-run home run from Hudson Sharp. The Falcons added another run in the second and continued to build separation throughout the game.

Defensively, the Falcons made key plays to halt any momentum from Sterling, turning multiple timely double plays. Friends rolled a crucial double play in the second inning to erase a scoring threat, and added another in the seventh to limit damage and maintain control of the game.

Sharp led the offensive charge, going 3-for-5 with four RBIs, while Morales added three runs scored and a home run. Miles Hartman and Camden Miller each contributed multi-hit performances as the Falcons totaled 14 hits on the afternoon.

On the mound, Seth Wright earned the win, tossing five solid innings while allowing just two runs and striking out four. The bullpen combination of Hoyt Roff, Colby Turner, and Seve Sissac closed the door, limiting Sterling to one run over the final four innings.

Friends broke the game open in the seventh inning, erupting for six runs to put the contest out of reach and secure the 12-3 victory.

With the win, the Falcons improve to (26-18) overall and (20-10) in KCAC play, sitting firmly in second place in the conference standings while continuing their longest win streak in six seasons.

The Falcons host their final home games this weekend with a series against St. Mary. The first game of the series will be on Friday (Apr. 17), first pitch time is still TBD with the upcoming forecast.
