Baseball splits senior day doubleheader, win streak ends at 12

Wichita, Kan. - Falcons baseball played their final home games on a beautiful Saturday afternoon (Apr. 18). Prior to first pitch, Friends honored 13 seniors for their contributions to the program, and the Falcons responded with a dominant performance on both sides of the ball.

Game 1

The Friends University Falcons powered past the University of Saint Mary, 10-0, in the opening game of Saturday's doubleheader on Senior Day (Apr. 18), extending their winning streak to 12 games.

Friends broke the game open in the 2nd inning, erupting for five runs on a series of timely hits. RBI efforts from Elijah Joseph, Miles Hartman, Bernie Socarras, and Elijah Morales highlighted the inning as the Falcons quickly seized control.

The Falcons continued to build their lead with single runs in the 3rd and 4th innings before adding two more in the 6th and another in the 8th to cap off the 10-run performance.

Socarras led the offensive charge with a perfect 4-4 day and four runs scored, while Morales added three hits and three RBIs. Hartman also contributed a multi-hit effort with two RBIs.

On the mound, Cameron Chase delivered a strong start, tossing 6.1 scoreless innings while allowing just three hits. The bullpen combined to finish the shutout, limiting St. Mary to four hits overall.

With the victory, Friends pushed its winning streak to 12 games, continuing the longest winning streak of the program in the modern era

Game 2

In game two the Falcons saw their 12-game winning streak come to an end in the second game of Saturday's doubleheader (Apr. 18), falling to the University of Saint Mary, 4-3. The Falcons were unable to complete the sweep despite a tightly contested battle.

St. Mary struck first with a run in the opening inning, but Friends answered quickly as Elijah Morales delivered an RBI single to even the score. The two teams traded runs again in the 3rd inning, with Morales driving in another run on a double to knot the game at 2-2.

The Spires gained the edge in the 5th inning, plating two runs on a string of hits and a ground out to take a 4-2 lead. Friends continued to battle and pulled within one in the 7th on an RBI ground out from Miles Hartman, but could not complete the comeback.

Morales led the Falcons offensively with two hits and two RBIs, while Holden Sabor added a hit and scored a run. Friends was limited to four hits in the contest.

On the mound, Raleigh Clark struck out six over three innings in the start, while Hoyt Roff was charged with the loss. Seth Wright provided two scoreless innings of relief to keep the Falcons within striking distance.

Despite the setback, Friends finishes the weekend sitting at #2 in the KCAC standings. The winning streak is now over for the Falcons and the modern era record will be set at 12 wins.

This capped off the home games at Westside Athletic Field in Wichita. The Falcons home record was (24-10) in the 2025-2026 season. The past 11 games were all home for Friends and they were able to achieve 10 wins on the home stand.

The Falcons move to (28-19) KCAC (22-11) and will have one final three game series against Evangel, the last regular season games before the KCAC conference tournament. Friends will travel to Springfield, Mo. on Friday (Apr. 24) for game one at 4:00 PM.
