The Friends University tennis teams displayed grit in a competitive weekend against Concordia and John Brown. Against Concordia, the men fell 1-6, while the women fought hard for a 2-5 result. Facing John Brown, the men again fell 1-6, and the women narrowly missed a win at 3-4.

Against Concordia, Cristobal Fuentes secured the lone victory in singles against H. Gomez (8-6, 6-1). On the Women's side, Silva Avakian dominated both singles and doubles, defeating M. Molano (6-3, 6-7, 10-7) and partnering with Carlotta Klee to take down I. Derman/M. Molano (6-3). Aneth Diaz added a singles win (6-3, 6-4), but FU struggled in other matchups.

In the John Brown contest, Fuentes earned another Falcon point in #1 singles over N. Ezzat (6-3, 6-2). The women's team came close but lost 3-4, with Avakian delivering a shut out singles win against A. Miller (6-0, 6-0) and securing another doubles victory with Klee (6-3). Diaz and Bender contributed a narrow doubles win (7-5), but FU couldn't overcome John Brown's depth.

Both teams are set to compete Monday (Mar. 10) against the University of Saint Mary to open up Conference play.
