WICHITA, Kan. The Friends University Falcon tennis teams split on Sunday (Apr. 7) at home against Evangel University. Against the Valor, the women prevailed in a close battle, winning 4-3. The men didn't have as much success, losing 6-1. 

The dynamic duo, Silva Avakian and Mirella Cavalcanti, is back at it against the Valor, winning in all three of their match ups. The two competed as #1 doubles and breezed by the competition, winning 6-1. Silva competed as #1 singles, keeping her record going and winning the Falcon point (6-2, 6-2).  Mirella Cavalcanti, against Evangel's Abigail Chaney, won in a competitive match up, winning a third Falcon point (6-4, 7-5). Another notable duo was Molly Bender and Nikolett Krivek, competing as #3 Doubles and winning, 6-2. 

Men's Tennis Falcons lost in a competitive match up against the Valor, falling in close margin doubles and singles. #1 Doubles, Connor Fitzsimmons and Auron Hoyer, had enough strength to prevail in their tough battle against D. Chavarria and V. Costa (Evangel), winning 7-5. The Falcons dropped some matches within reach, but Aidan Marshall was able to secure the Falcon point against Evangel's Diego Chavarria and win in two sets (6-4, 6-2). 

Both teams are set to compete Monday (April 8) in road match against Sterling College. The game last week was rescheduled due to weather conditions, so Men's Tennis play first at 1 pm and the Women follow at 4 pm.
