Box Score 2 Mesquite, Texas – The (RV) Friends University Falcons won both games today (Feb. 6) at the SCS NAIA Invitational at the Mesquite Softball Complex in Mesquite, Texas.
The Falcons opened the day with a 3-0 victory over Xaiver (La.) before taking down the Mid-America Christian University Evangels 10-1.
In the win over MACU, Cadence Magana walked and was immediately tripled home by Tamara Lozoya. Lozoya then plated the Falcons' second run of the first on a single by Campbell Riordan.
After the Evangels got on the board in the bottom of the first, Izzy Jones hit an infield single to score Zoie VanZee for the first of her three RBI in the game.
The Falcons continued to stretch the lead and added another run in the third and two more in the fourth, including an RBI infield single by Riordan.
Friends then busted things wide open when an RBI double by Jones and an RBI infield single from Magana powered a four-run seventh inning.
Jones, Riordan and Lozoya each had two hits to spark the Falcon offensive attack. Madison Nightingale also had a triple with two runs scored.
Dakota Watson had two hits for the Evangels.
Ainsley McGill started and went 3.1 innings with one run allowed. Jenna Ormiston followed and pitched 3.2 scoreless frames with a pair of strikeouts to pick up the win.
The Falcons will next wrap up play at the SCS NAIA Invite tomorrow (Feb. 7) vs. No. 2-ranked Oklahoma City University at 10 am.
