Chickasha, Okla. – The Friends University Falcons finished on the short end of a 1-0 game in today's (May 11) NAIA Opening round game to the Morningside University Mustangs in Chickasha, Okla.
Both teams used strong pitching and stout defense to keep the game in a scoreless gridlock until an error in the bottom of the seventh led to the game winning run.
With the winning run at third and one out, Jenna Skradski singled home pinch runner Ali Fletcher to give the Mustangs the walk off win.
Jenna Ormiston allowed just one unearned run through 6.1 innings for the fifth-seeded Falcons, striking out three and walking three.
Adeline Fliege pitched seven shutout frames for the fourth-seeded Mustangs, with six strikeouts and three walks.
Cambell Riordan led the Falcons with two hits from the top of the order, while Ashlyn Caniglia had a pair of hits for Morningside.
The Falcons, now 31-21 on the season, will play an elimination game tomorrow (May 12) vs. second-seeded LSU-Alexandria, who fell 7-4 to third-seeded College of Idaho today.
