LOUISVILLE, Ky. – Friends University senior shortstop Tamara Lozoya has been selected to the National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) NAIA All-Region team, the organization announced today (May 22).
A second-team All-Region III performer, Lozoya fueled the Falcon lineup this season with a team-leading .418 batting average while slugging six home runs and driving home 37. She also led the Falcons in on-base percentage (.488) and slugged .667.
An Attica, Kan. native, Lozoya helped the Falcons to a KCAC postseason tournament runner-up finish that resulted in the program's fifth NAIA Opening Round appearance in head coach Suzanne Unruh's eight-year tenure.
Lozoya isn't done with the program quite yet, as she's slated to stay on as Unruh's Graduate Assistant Intern for the 2027 season.
"We are so grateful for Tam staying with the program for her graduate degree!" said Unruh. "She will bring more to the team then just her Softball knowledge, as her strong faith and kindness to everyone she meets is contagious and I can't wait for future Falcon Softball players to learn and be around such an amazing lady."
