Box Score 2 Shawnee, Okla. – It only took Friends University Falcon sophomore first baseman Cambell Riordan nine games to etch her name in the school's modern era history book with a single-game record nine RBIs in the Falcons' 17-3 rout of the Columbia College Cougars in the first game today (Feb. 20) of the NAIA SB Invite in Shawnee, Okla.
Riordan doubled in the Falcons' first run of the game and then launched a grand slam in the second inning to make it 7-0.
Finishing just a single short of the cycle, Riordan hit a three-run double in the fourth and then an RBI triple in the fifth to finish out the explosion in the run rule victory.
Joining Riordan in going a perfect 4-of-4 at the plate was Tamara Lozoya, who scored five runs with a homer and four RBIs.
Cadence Magana crossed the plate four times, while Izzy Jones had three hits and Madison Nightingale and Mekeni Humphers each delivered two hits apiece.
The game was never in doubt and allowed Jenna Ormiston to pitch with a lead throughout. Ormiston went the full five innings and struck out three with three runs allowed to pick up the victory.
The Falcons then fell short 16-6 to the No. 2-ranked Oklahoma City University Stars in the second game of the day.
Trailing 3-1, the Falcons fought back and took the lead when an RBI single by Ezra Arredondo capped a three-run third frame.
The Stars though regained command as a two-run homer by Tara Hoehner in the fourth sparked a string of nine unanswered runs by OCU that made it 12-4.
Riordan hit a two-run homer in the fifth to temporarily put the Falcons back in it, but the Stars plated four runs in the top of the sixth to put it out of reach.
Lozoya had three more hits for the Falcons (5-5), with Riordan and Arredondo each contributing a pair of hits.
Gabby Moreno went 3-of-4 for the Stars and Hoehner and Carlee Mollet each drove in three runs.
The Falcons will play two more at the NAIA SB Invite tomorrow (Feb. 21) at 12:30 pm vs. Bellevue University and then at 2:45 pm vs. Oklahoma Panhandle State University.
