WICHITA, Kan. – On the day a feature story was published on Friends University junior Abby Green, the Wichita native added another chapter by nailing an NAIA national standard in the Women's Hammer Throw on the second day of the Friends University Spring Invitational today (Apr. 3) at Adair-Austin Stadium.
Green won the event with a throw of 51.49m to hit the NAIA B Standard and qualify for nationals.
Following the first day of the Men's Decathlon, Carter Giittinger is in good shape at the top of the leaderboard with 3487 points. Giittinger finished no worse than second in any of the four events today, coming out on top in the 100 Meters (11.06) and the 400 Meter Run (51.32) while recording a runner-up finish in the Long Jump (6.38m) and the Shot Put (10.98m). Braeden Harris is also competing in the Decathlon for the Falcons and currently sits in seventh place with 2982 points.
In the first recorded hammer throw of his career, Julian Winters posted a top three finish with a mark of 48.45m.
The final day of events is scheduled to begin tomorrow at 10 am.
