Salina, Kan. – Friends University's Abby Green and Damon Scott each captured hardware on the first day of the KCAC Outdoor Track & Field Championships today (May 1) at JRI Stadium in Salina, Kan.
Green won her third straight conference title in the Hammer Throw, as the Newton, Kan. native hit a mark of 51.02 for another NAIA B Standard.
The Men's Long Jump saw Scott nail the NAIA A Standard with a massive PR of 7.38m, while Payton Willits recorded an NAIA B Standard and PR at 7.26m to finish on the podium in third place for the Falcons.
In the Women's 100 Meter run, Tiyna Ridge set herself up in a good spot for the finals tomorrow with a second place run in the preliminary heat with an NAIA B Standard time of 11.76.
Gabriela Millan (14.71) and Irian Padulles (14.93) each qualified for the finals in the 100m Hurdles, with Carter Giittinger (15.17) and Tyson Wallace (15.31) coming in second in the preliminaries of the 110 Hurdles on the men's side.
Additional top four finishes on the first day for the Falcons were Mikkel Tarver (7.18) in the Long Jump, Milan (1.56m) in the High Jump, Braelyn Cunningham (42.51) in the Women's Hammer Throw and Julian Winters (48.60m) in the Men's Hammer Throw.
Action will wrap up tomorrow (May 2) at the KCAC Championship meet starting with the Men's Shot Put and Women's Discus Throw at 11 am.
