Box Score 2 Branson, Mo. – March 8, 2025?The Friends University Falcons put together a dominant all-around performance, shutting out Graceland University 8-0 at home. Behind a stellar outing from
Jenna Ormiston in the circle and a powerful offensive display, the Falcons controlled the game from start to finish.
Ormiston was nearly untouchable, keeping Graceland off the board while racking up multiple strikeouts. The Friends defense was solid behind her, allowing just a handful of baserunners and committing only one error on the day. On offense, the Falcons wasted no time setting the tone, with
Elena Montoya leading the charge at the plate. Montoya crushed two doubles and drove in three runs, providing plenty of support for Ormiston.
Becca Dunn and
Teagan Moreno each chipped in with an RBI, while
Tamara Lozoya added two RBIs of her own.
Friends also applied pressure on the base paths, with
Keara Cunningham,
Angelina Mendoza, and
Jayden Estabrook each stealing a base.
In Game 2 against #9 Our Lady of the Lake University, in a stellar complete-game shutout from
Riley Wertz, the Friends University Falcons secured a 5-0 victory over. The Falcons controlled the game from the start, combining dominant pitching with timely hitting to seal the win. Wertz was in command all afternoon, tossing seven scoreless innings, facing 26 batters, and throwing 104 pitches (64 for strikes). The Saints' offense were kept in check, allowing just a handful of baserunners and showing strong control throughout.
At the plate, Friends took advantage of key opportunities.
Priscilla Mora and
Riley Wertz each went deep, blasting home runs to spark the offense. Mora, Wertz, and
Elena Montoya each recorded extra-base hits, with Montoya, Mora (2), and Wertz (2) driving in the Falcons' five runs.
Friends also executed well in small-ball situations, with
Teagan Moreno and
Tamara Lozoya contributing sacrifice hits to move runners into scoring position.
On the defensive side, the Falcons played a clean game, shutting down any potential scoring threats.
The Falcons will begin conference play on Tuesday, March 11 against the Ottawa University Braves, at Two Rivers Youth Complex here in Wichita!
