Attention Women's Soccer Alumni: Opportunities now available to elevate the Women’s Soccer Preseason Colorado Trip

WICHITA, Kan. – The Friends University Women's Soccer team are planning their biannual preseason trip to Colorado and want alumni to be aware of ways they can contribute to making the trip a success in 2025.

The trip cost is around $8,500, with a major assistance in help covering that cost being an alumni sponsoring one player for $120.  The sponsorship would go towards their lodging and meal expenses, which consists of a three-night stay at Quaker Ridge Camp in Woodland Park, Colorado. Alumni have the option of donating to a specific player, or a donation can be determined to a player.  Donations can be anonymous or announced.

The Colorado trip has proved to be vital in helping the Falcons prepare for the upcoming season, as the past trips have occurred in 2017, 2019, 2021 and 2023.  The program advanced to the NAIA National Tournament in the 2019, 2021, 2023 and 2024 seasons. This past season the team captured their first KCAC tournament championship of the modern era with a thrilling 1-0 overtime victory over the York University Panthers.

"I believe this trip has been an important element in our success as a program," said Hobson.  "This preseason trip has impacted our team culture in a positive way each year.  The first few days of preseason are crucial days in team building and there's no better place to work on team building than up in the mountains of Colorado."

 Player Quotes about the trip:

"Transferring in as a junior, the Colorado trip was confirmation that I had joined an amazing program. The high-altitude pushed our physical limits, which in turn set us apart during the season, but it was the shared team-building activities and moments of camaraderie that truly defined the experience. It wasn't just about preparing for the season—it was about forming meaningful bonds with my teammates, building trust, and creating unity both on and off the field. I have also never laughed so much in my life."

- Abby Anderson ~ 2018 Graduate ~ Talking about the 2017 Trip

"As a former player, I can confidently say this trip is one of the best ways to strengthen team bonds. It gives everyone a chance to step away, unplug, and really connect with teammates on a deeper level. Those connections make such a difference on the field and helps to build trust, improve communication, and create a stronger sense of unity. Looking back, those moments were invaluable and truly gave us an edge as a team."
