Springfield, Mo. – The Friends University Falcons and Evangel University Valor split a pair of one-run games, with the Falcons pulling out a 3-2 first game victory in extra innings and the Valor walking off a 4-3 win in the second game today (Mar. 27) in Springfield, Mo.

With the Valor leading 2-1 in the seventh, a two-out infield single by Priscilla Mora extended the game to Becca Dunn, who plated Carolyn Dallimore with a game-tying single.

Then in the bottom of the inning, Dallimore showed off her strong arm by throwing out a runner at second and preventing the potential winning run from advancing into scoring position.

After a sacrifice fly by Laila Spracklen gave the Falcons a 3-2 lead in the eighth, Dallimore struck again with a pickoff at third to eliminate the tying run. Spracklen followed that with a strikeout to complete the victory and pick up the save.

Riley Wertz earned the win with a solid starting effort in the circle, going seven innings and striking out nine with just one earned run allowed.

Marshall sparked the Falcon lineup with three hits, with Dunn and Mora each going 2-of-3 in the opening tilt.

Megan Stone had a homer and two hits for Evangel, while Madi Bentley gave up two earned runs and walked four in eight innings.

It was then the Valor's turn to rally late in the nightcap with two runs in the sixth to tie the score before a pinch-hit single by Phoebe Gardner in the seventh gave Evangel the walk-off win.

Trailing 1-0, Makenna Mitchell doubled home Spracklen and Vanessa Sigala in the fifth.  Dunn then added to the lead with an RBI single in the sixth for a two-run Falcon lead.

Spracklen started the second game for the Falcons (17-13, 5-5 KCAC) and struck out six, walked five and surrendered two earned runs over six innings. Wertz then gave up the final run in the seventh.

Maddy Meierer got the win for the Valor after striking out four and allowing just one earned run in seven frames. Kenna Mayfield had two hits from the leadoff spot for Evangel (17-5, 8-2 KCAC).

The Falcons will now return home to face York University Saturday afternoon (Mar. 30) starting at 1 pm at Two Rivers Youth Complex.
