WICHITA, Kan. – Friends University senior defender/midfielder Paige Putter has been selected as the KCAC Women's Soccer Defensive Player of the Week, the conference office announced today (Sept. 22). All KCAC Player of the Week awards are sponsored by Athletic Solutions.

Putter's recognition marks the second straight week the Falcons have had the league's top defender, with fellow senior Alayna Runck garnering the honor last week.

A Maize, Kan. native, Putter was the driving force defensively behind a pair of Falcon victories to open the KCAC season, including a 1-0 shutout win at Southwestern College last Wednesday (Sept. 16). She also scored a goal in the Falcons' 2-1 win at Kansas Wesleyan University on Saturday (Sept. 19) in addition to her defensive prowess.

Putter has been a main contributor in the Falcons posting four shutouts this season.

"Paige has been such a good leader for us in the back," said Friends women's soccer head coach Brent Hobson. "We definitely expect her to impact games defensively but she's such a threat in the attacking side of the game too." 

The Falcons, winners of four straight and 4-2-1 on the year, will next play at Bethany College Saturday evening (Sept. 26) at 5 pm in Lindsborg, Kan.
