WICHITA, Kan. – The KCAC Women's Soccer weekly awards have a distinct Friends University flavor to them today (Sept. 14), with junior forward Anahi Ibarra-Arevalo being named the Offensive Player of the Week and senior defender Alayna Runck earning the league's Defensive Player of the Week nod. All KCAC Player of the Week awards are sponsored by Athletic Solutions.

Ibarra-Arevalo scored at the 19:35 mark of the first half and that's all the Falcons needed to knock off (RV) USAO 1-0 Tuesday night (Sept. 8). It was the Wichita native's first goal of the season and it came at an ideal time for the Falcons.

In that same victory, Runck fueled the Falcon defensive unit all night against USAO. Runck helped the Falcons limit the Drovers to just six shots-on-goal in the clean sheet win.

Also a Wichita product, Runck has now sparked the Falcons to three shutouts on the season, including the last two victories over Grand View and USAO.

"Always happy to see our players get some recognition for their performances," said Friends women's soccer head coach Brent Hobson. "Anahi's goal against USAO was a big moment that can definitely help us going into conference play. It'll help her confidence going into the first conference game on Wednesday. 

Alayna has been so good in non-conference play. She's been so tough and has played a lot of minutes so far that has helped get us some positive results. 

Our coaching staff is looking forward to seeing these two compete in conference play this week."

The Falcons will next travel to Winfield, Kan., on Wednesday, Sept. 16, to take on the Southwestern College Lady Builders in the KCAC opener.
