WICHITA, Kan. – The Friends University Falcons captured their home Crestview Fall Invite championship this week at the Crestview Country Club in Wichita.
The Falcons finished +85 as a team, seven strokes better than second place Seminole State (Okla.) College.
Victoria Hofmann (+16) led a balanced Falcon performance with a solid third-place result.
Jessica Applegarth (+22) was next for Friends in sixth, followed by Hannah Tri (+27) in 12th and Rylin Wells (+28) tied for 13th. Sydney Chapman (+30) was close behind in 16th for the Falcons.
"Proud of this team and the way they continue to compete together!" said Friends women's golf head coach Scott Moshier. We earned a great team victory, and once again, multiple players stepped up and delivered when we needed their scores most.
We also had career collegiate-low rounds from Sydney (Chapman), Rylin (Wells), and Hannah (Tri), while five players finished inside the top 16. Victoria (Hofmann) led the way with an outstanding third-place individual finish. It has been exciting to see the continued growth of this team throughout the fall. Each tournament, we are seeing players gain confidence, compete for one another, and find ways to contribute when it matters most.
We're looking forward to having a week between tournaments to focus on our games, continue improving, and prepare for our next opportunity to compete. The progress we are making—both individually and as a team—is something we are very proud of."
As Moshier noted, the Falcons will have a week off before traveling to Hobbs, N.M. to compete at the University of the Southwest Tournament on Sept. 28-29.
