The first time Trinton Nobles walked onto campus at Friends University, he wasn't thinking about championships. He was thinking about finding a place that felt like home.

He found it.

Over four years with the Falcons, Nobles turned that sense of belonging into one of the most decorated careers men's golf has ever seen at Friends. The small campus, the tight-knit community, and a support system anchored by family in Wichita became the foundation for a run that includes multiple conference titles, national honors, and memories he'll carry long after his final round.

Finding the Right Fit

Nobles didn't choose Friends for trophies. He chose it for people. "The main reason why I chose Friends University was because of the small community that they had as well as my grandparents living here in Wichita that really played a big role in why I chose Friends," he said. "It also had this small Christian school environment and that's kind of how I was raised."

That decision paid off immediately. The environment matched who he was — grounded, humble, and focused — and the people around him brought out his best. "The reason that Friends is such a great fit for me for the past four years is because of the lifelong friendships that I've made with the guys on the golf team," Nobles said. "Everybody knowing everybody. It's really easy to put a name to a face, face to a name."

A Career Beyond Expectations

If you had told Nobles as a freshman what he would accomplish, he might not have believed you. "No, I cannot fathom the success I've had while I've been here," he said. "Four years ago, I didn't even think I would be playing golf in college. And it's kind of just taken me by storm."

The list is staggering: four-time KCAC conference champion, two-time (and likely three-time) NAIA All-American, three-time KCAC Player of the Year. Yet, the moment he treasures most is personal. "Being four-time conference champion is pretty cool. But I think one-time conference champion individually is the coolest thing that I can say that I've accomplished while I've been here."

Success Built on Structure

Nobles' rise wasn't accidental — it was intentional. "One of the key reasons for the success I've had over the four years is having an organized schedule," he said. "Not just in life, but with golf, practice schedule, and also a schedule outside of golf as well."

He believes balance matters as much as practice. "Taking the time that you need away from your sport is, I feel, more beneficial than actually doing your sport," Nobles said. "It gets your mind off of the stress and things like that, so that's really helped."

People Who Shaped the Journey

Ask Nobles who made the biggest impact, and he doesn't name a coach or a teammate — he names a community. "I don't think I can name a specific person," he said. "The people that I surrounded myself with while I've been here have played the biggest impact on me. My roommates have always been there for me. They're my best friends for life, and I will always have them."

And then there's family. "My grandparents as well," Nobles added. "They really helped. That transition from being in high school to then being in college was difficult being away from home, but it kind of felt like I was also at home because I had them here."

Lessons That Last

Even with all the accolades, what matters most to Nobles are the lessons he's learned. "The main things that will stick with me from my career here are things like how to be disciplined in golf and in life and how to manage my time as well as always believing in myself, never giving up," he said.

And as his career winds down, he's already thinking about those who will follow him in the program he helped define.

Advice for the Next Falcons

To future Falcons, Nobles keeps it simple — and practical. "Some advice I would give some future golfers is that you just got to stay consistent," he said. "Consistency is key, I feel, on the golf course."

He breaks it down further:

Stay away from high numbers. "No double bogeys. Bogeys are okay. They're bound to happen. Just really got to stay away from those high numbers."

Get good at putting. "Putting is the most important part of golf."

Be a good teammate. "Sometimes people just kind of play for themselves and not for their team. We haven't had anybody like that on our team so far, but I would say play for your team, not for yourself. Golf is an individual sport, but it is also a team sport. And coach does a really good job of recruiting not just really good golfers, but also really great humans."

That's the legacy Nobles leaves behind — a standard of excellence built on faith, friendship, discipline and a belief that greatness starts with the people around you.
