Garden City, Kan. – The Friends University Falcons officially entered dynasty territory with their third straight KCAC Men's Golf championship, attained today (Apr. 30) at the Buffalo Dunes Golf Course in Garden City, Kan.
After holding a one stroke lead at the conclusion of the first round, the Falcons, under KCAC Head Coach of the Year Dustin Galyon, turned it on and shot -3 the second round and wound up +6 overall for a comfortable 17 stroke victory over second-place Sterling College (+17).
Tomas Vazquez shot even par to win the individual title, giving the Falcons their fourth different individual winner during Galyon's four years at the helm (Trenton Sutherland, Gerardo Alemany, Caleb Knight).
The Falcons had three of the top four finishers, with KCAC Player of the Year Trinton Nobles (+2) coming in tied for second and Trenton Sutherland (+2) winding up tied for fourth.
Jack Cubitt, the KCAC Newcomer of the Year, was sixth at +3 and Caleb Knight (+8) finished 12th.
Grant Waggoner and Eduard Domenech were also on the postseason roster for Friends.
With another automatic bid secured to the NAIA Men's Golf National Championship, the Falcons will now prepare for the national event set for May 20-23 at TPC Deere Run at Silvis, Ill.
