WICHITA, Kan. – Friends University senior quarterback K'Vonte Baker has been voted to win an Honorary ESPY as the Small College Male Athlete of the Year, presented by ESPN Radio Wichita 92.3 FM.

Baker joins track & field standout Kortney Schutt as Falcon winners of an Honorary ESPY, with Schutt winning the inaugural Small College Female Athlete of the Year award in 2022.

By winning this award, Baker will receive the same ESPY award that is presented to the likes of Patrick Mahomes, LeBron James, etc.

Baker, a three-time KCAC Player of the Year, broke his own modern-era single-season record with 30 rushing touchdowns along with a team-leading 1,181 rushing yards this past season.

Also a second-team AFCA NAIA American and a two-time VSN All-America performer, Baker wrapped up his career with 3,645 career rushing yards to eclipse Jesse Rogers' modern era rushing record set back in 2016. 

The Wichita native helped his hometown team record a season that will live forever in the history books. Under head coach Terry Harrison, Friends won a program record 12 games, won its second consecutive KCAC championship and advanced to the NAIA FCS quarterfinals for the first time in school history during the 2025 campaign.
