Box Score WICHITA, Kan. -- The Friends University Women's Tennis Falcons edged out the John Brown University Eagles 4-3 on Saturday (Mar. 7), while the Falcon Men fell by the same score to JBU. 

The Falcon Women secured the victory by capturing the doubles point and winning singles matches at the No. 1, No. 2, and No. 3 positions.

Friends won the doubles point with victories on courts one and two. Emma Sargeant and Silva Avakian claimed a 7-6, 7-5 win at No. 1 doubles over Arianny Sira and Ana Moreno. On court two, the pair of Aneth Diaz and Carlotta Klee defeated Kaiya Dobson and Karen Torres 6-2. 

In singles, Avakian put the team ahead with a commanding 6-1, 6-0 victory over Sira at No. 1 singles. Diaz extended the lead by defeating Moreno 6-2, 6-4 at No. 2 singles. Sargeant triumphed in a three-set match against Dobson, closing with a 6-2, 4-6, 7-4 scoreline at No. 3 singles.

On the men's side, the Falcons captured the doubles point with victories at the No. 1 and No. 2 positions but fell short in singles play.

Friends won the doubles point as Gabriel Gomes and Cristobal Fuentes defeated Spencer Keeter and Andrew Aylor 6-4 at No. 1 doubles. Yves Ikuno and Rodrigo Torres then added a 6-1 win against L. Borges and Santiago Jaime at No. 2 doubles. 

In singles play, Fuentes opened with a hard-fought victory at No. 1 singles, overcoming Keeter 6-4, 7-6(5). John Brown responded at No. 2 singles with Borges defeating Gomes 6-2, 6-2. Torres gave Friends another point at No. 3 singles by edging Jonathan Hillock in a three-set battle, 6-2, 6-7(4), 7-3.

John Brown though captured the remaining singles matches to finish on top.
