LINDSBORG, Kan. — The Friends University men's tennis team saw its 2025–26 season come to an end Thursday (Apr. 23), falling 4–0 to the University of Saint Mary in the quarterfinals of the KCAC Tournament.
The Falcons struggled to gain early momentum in doubles play, as Saint Mary secured the doubles point with wins at No. 2 and No. 3.
Trey Lacy and
Rodrigo Torres fell 6–1 to Korbin Priestley and Evan Maritz, while
Jacob Bush and
Yves Ikuno were defeated 6–4 by Mateo Dargel Argote and Carlos Grimaldi.
In singles, Saint Mary carried that momentum forward, clinching the team victory with straight-set wins across the lineup. Fuentes dropped a 6–2, 6–4 decision at No. 1, Torres fell 6–3, 6–4 at No. 3, and Lacy was defeated 6–4, 6–1 at No. 4. Ikuno and Bush also came up short at No. 5 and No. 6 singles, respectively.
Although
Gabriel Gomes earned a 6–3, 6–3 win at No. 2 singles, the match was already decided, and the official team result remained 4–0 in favor of Saint Mary.
The loss brings the Falcons' season to a close following their KCAC Tournament appearance, as they finish the 2025–26 campaign with a 6–10 overall record.
