Waxahachie, Texas -- An early national standard highlighted the Friends University Falcons' efforts at the Nelson Invitational on Friday (Mar. 20) in Waxahachie, Texas.
It didn't take
Aneesa Sheppard long to secure her spot at the NAIA National Championship meet, as the San Antonio, Texas native nailed a national qualifying mark in the Triple Jump (11.74m) in the first outdoor event of the season.

Liliana Robinson secured first place in the women's 400 meters with a time of 58.08 seconds.
Gabriela Millan triumphed in the women's 100 hurdles, clocking in at 14.88 seconds. Millan also excelled in the women's high jump, clearing a height of 1.57 meters (5' 1.75") to share the top mark in that event.
Sheppard dominated the women's long jump with a mark of 5.33 meters (17' 6") in addition to winning the triple jump.
Cameron Clary claimed the top spot in the women's discus throw, achieving a mark of 42.15 meters (138' 3"). Clary also placed third in the women's shot put with a throw of 10.06 meters (33' 0.25").
Abby Green emerged victorious in the women's hammer throw, reaching a distance of 49.83 meters (163' 6"). Green also performed strongly in the women's discus, placing fourth with a mark of 33.08 meters (108' 6").
In the men's 100 meters,
Pius Vokes finished fourth with a time of 10.79 seconds, matching the third-place finisher's time.
Erick Leggin also competed, finishing sixth in 10.95 seconds. Vokes secured fifth place in the men's 200 meters with a time of 21.98 seconds.
Leggin also achieved third place in the men's long jump with a distance of 6.95 meters (22' 9.75"). In the men's shot put,
Shawn Burdick claimed first place with a mark of 15.13 meters (49' 7.75"), and
Julian Winters finished third with 14.25 meters (46' 9"). Burdick also took second place in the men's discus with a throw of 40.46 meters (132' 9"), while Winters excelled in the men's hammer throw, securing first place with a distance of 52.23 meters (171' 4").
Denzel Nyamwela achieved a second-place finish in the men's 400 hurdles with a time of 55.23 seconds for the Falcons.
The Falcon track & field programs are next scheduled to compete at the both the ESU Spring Open on Friday (Mar. 27) in Emporia, Kan. and then the ORU Invitational on Saturday (Mar. 28) in Tulsa, Okla.
