Newton, Kan. – The No. 10-ranked and three-time defending KCAC champion Friends University Falcons began the 2025-26 campaign with a solid runner-up showing at the Mid-South Classic at the Sand Creek Station in Newton, Kan. The stacked event also featured No. 6 Wayland Baptist University, No. 23 USAO and RV Hastings College.
The Falcons finished even as a team, just two strokes behind No. 5-ranked MidAmerica Nazarene University.
Of the Falcons' five top finishers today, four were new additions to the program under KCAC Coach of the Year Dustin Galyon.
Leading the way for the Falcons was Laken Matthews (-1) in a tie for fifth.
Jack Cubitt (+1), the 2024-25 KCAC Newcomer of the Year, came in tied for eighth for the Falcons.
Bernhard Koster (+2) was tied for 11th and Gabriele Romani (+5) wound up tied for 26th. Jenson Boyce (+10) finished tied for 46th for Friends.
The Friends B team also competed and posted a 15th place result behind Grant Waggoner, Maverick Guinn, Ethan Balke, Colton Hoover and Cameron Wahl.
The Falcons will next host their Crestview Fall Invitational on Sept. 15-16 at the Crestview Country Club in Wichita.
