Box Score WICHITA, Kan. – The Friends University Falcons polished off the 2024-25 regular season in style with a 105-85 victory over the Bethany College Swedes on Senior Day this evening (Feb. 22) inside the Garvey Center. The Falcons had already clinched the second spot prior to today and finish the regular season at 22-6 overall and 18-4 in the KCAC. The 22 wins equal the most for the Falcons since the 2018-19 season.
Knockout Punch: In a game that featured 13 lead changes, most wouldn't expect a 20-point final margin of victory for either side. But the Falcons turned a close game into a rout with one big surge in the second half. After Ellis Todd hit a three to put Bethany up 59-58 at the 12:08 mark of the second half, Randy Woolf, Jr. scored two of his career-high 21 points to produce the game's last lead change. That ignited a game-changing 23-3 surge that Woolf, Jr. sparked with 11 points and ended with the Falcons going from a one-point deficit to a comfortable 81-62 lead. Friends led by as much as 22 from that point and never let the lead dip fewer than 15 points the rest of the way.
Right Price: Senior Josh Price picked a fine time to score a career-best 15 points in his final regular season home game. Price also scored at the right time, hitting a three and scoring seven points during the Falcons' decisive second half run.
Perfect Board Work: The Falcons outrebounded the Swedes 52-30 and end the regular season with a perfect 18-0 record when outrebounding the opposition.
Share the Ball: The Falcons shot an efficient 51.5 percent (35-of-68) from the field, thanks in large part to registering 19 assists. Woolf, Jr. and Collin Maclin each had five dimes to lead the way.
Scintillating Season: Regardless of what happens in the postseason, the Falcons have to gain satisfaction in how the 2024-25 regular season unfolded. Picked ninth and 10th in the KCAC preseason polls, the Falcons massively outperformed expectations to finish second in the league and all but assure themselves of a spot in the NAIA National Championship Tournament in head coach Phil McClintock's second season at the helm. Just an unbelievable accomplishment for McClintock and the Falcons.
McClintock on tonight's win over Bethany: "I'm proud of our guys finding a way to win tonight. We didn't have our best stuff defensively and credit to Bethany for playing very well. We were able to find a spark in the second half and win the game. I'm happy our seniors were able to finish the regular season with a win at home!"
Up Next: The Falcons will begin their postseason run at home Wednesday night (Feb. 26) vs. the seventh-seeded McPherson College Bulldogs in the KCAC postseason quarterfinal round at 7 pm inside the Garvey Center.
