WICHITA, Kan. – Phil McClintock is stepping down as the head coach of the Friends University men's basketball program, VP of Athletics & Strategic Expansion Dr. Rob Ramseyer has announced.

"We're deeply grateful for what Phil gave to Friends University over the past three years," said Dr. Ramseyer. "He returned this program to the national stage, mentored some of the best players in the conference, and did it the right way. Coaches like Phil don't come around often, and the profession is losing a good one with him stepping away from it. We wish him and his family nothing but the best in this next chapter."

McClintock took over the position for the 2023-24 season and by his second season at the helm, the Falcons were back into the NAIA National Championship Tournament for the first time since 2018-19.

The Falcons would make their second consecutive NAIA National Championship Tournament this past season while finishing with a 26-7 record, the program's most wins since the 2013-14 campaign.

Under McClintock, the Falcons climbed as high as No. 14 in the NAIA national rankings this season, the team's highest position since 2013-14.

The 2024-25 KCAC Coach of the Year, McClintock mentored the KCAC Co-Player of the Year last season (KJ Spiller) and coached five all-conference players this past year.

In conference play, the Falcons have posted two consecutive KCAC regular season runner-up finishes with identical 18-4 conference marks.

"I appreciate the impact Friends University has had on me during my three years in Wichita," said McClintock. "I'd especially like to thank Dr. Carey, Dr. Ramseyer, Coach Faber, the administration, and all the coaches and staff at Friends. You all helped me grow every day, and competing at the top of the conference alongside such a great group was incredibly rewarding.

Lastly, I'd like to thank my assistants and players. The success we achieved would not have been possible without your hard work, commitment, and support."
