WICHITA, Kan. – Trinton Nobles, the two-time KCAC Player of the Year, continues to rack up wins and came out on top individually to fuel the No. 10-ranked Friends University Falcons to a second-place finish at the Falcon Cup yesterday (Oct. 14) at the Auburn Hills Golf Course in Wichita.

The Falcons finished -12 as a team, seven strokes behind front-runner Indian Hills CC and one of only two teams at the tourney to shoot under par.

"We took another step forward this week," said Friends men's golf head coach Dustin Galyon. "This tournament had a lot of talented players and teams and I thought our guys did a great job of grinding it out. I thought our mental toughness improved from last tournament to this one and it was fun to watch our guys compete."

Nobles finished at -10, shooting consistently at -4 in the first round and -3 in each of the final two rounds of play to lead all 81 players competing.

Friends also had the runner-up individual, with Gabriele Romani coming in right behind Nobles at six under par.

"Six weeks ago Trinton was in a cast and we were prayerful he would be able to return this season," said Galyon. "His focus and mental toughness was incredible. This tournament had several All-American level players and he was one of them! He loves golf...Loves to compete and loves the details of getting better each day. Gabriele has played some really solid golf this fall and I believe he is capable of winning any tournament he plays in. He is starting to make putts and has worked really hard this fall. He practices like a champion and has the experience to play and win at a high level. He is a great teammate and incredibly coachable. His best golf is yet to come this year!!"

Laken Matthews was the next highest finishing Falcon in a tie for 12th with Grant Waggoner of the Friends B team at +1.

Bernhard Koster was 17th with a score of +3 and Jack Cubitt (+20) came in 51st.

Behind Waggoner, the Friends B team came in sixth as a team at +40.

The Falcons will next wrap up the fall season at the KCAC Match Play event next week (Oct. 20-21) at the Mariah Hills Golf Course in Dodge City, Kan.
