Flying with the Falcons: The Friends University Falcons are 4-3 overall on the season and have won both KCAC games to start the conference season. The Falcons got key shots in clutch moments from Jadyn Glasgow and Lauryn McIver to overcome Oklahoma Wesleyan University 82-81 in double-overtime Wednesday evening (Nov. 20) in Bartlesville, Okla. Read the full, exciting recap HERE!

Taylor Jackson is averaging a double-double of 14.1 points per game and a KCAC-leading 12.3 rebounds this season. Jackson, the winner of the past two KCAC Defensive Player of the Week awards, has also swatted a league-leading 2.1 blocks per game.

The Falcons are also getting double-figure points from Kori Babock (13.0 ppg), McIver (13.0 ppg) and Abigail Barr (12.0 ppg), with McIver recording a team-high 2.9 assists and Barr ranking fourth in the KCAC with nine boards a game.

Scouting the Panthers: The York University Panthers are 2-3 overall and 0-2 in the KCAC thus far.

Destiny Shepherd leads the Panthers with 12.6 points per game and Ashley Rubio is scoring 10.7 ppg. Britney Schroer has pulled down a team-high 6.2 rebounds and Pasiko Hvichiani leads York with 2.8 assists.

The Series: The Falcons have gotten the far better end of the series with the Panthers, winning 21 of 22 games on record since 2008. Friends is 11-1 against York in Wichita and won both meetings last year by scores of 92-59 at home and 79-71 on the road.

Quoting Head Coach Dean Jaderston

"It's good to be back home! We've been grinding out our last four games on the road. Our defense has started to get consistently stingy, and we are getting better at the offensive end. York is dangerous and hungry, so we have to be focused on our preparation and execution this week."

She's so defensive: Taylor Jackson won her second consecutive KCAC Defensive Player of the Week award on Monday (Nov. 18) and 16th weekly defensive honor for her career. The Falcons' modern-era blocks leader, Jackson is tops in the KCAC this season in both rebounds (12.3 rpg) and blocks (2.1 bpg).

Boarding School: The Falcons have controlled the glass this season, outrebounding the opposition by nearly 10 boards per game (46.0-36.4). Friends has led in rebounding in six of the seven games thus far.

The Coaches:

Dean Jaderston is in his sixth season at the helm of the Friends University women's basketball program. The Falcon women's basketball program has seen considerable growth under his leadership both on and off the court. Their consistency and competitiveness have led to a 62-31 record over the past three years, including a trip to the KCAC tournament championship game in 2023.

Jaderston brings a wealth of experience to Friends University, having coached for over  30 years (24 years in college and 13 years in high school). On December 13, 2022 he  recorded his 300th career collegiate win vs. Tabor College.

As a men's basketball coach Jaderston was a two-time KCAC Coach of the Year. He coached six NAIA All-America performers during his tenure at Sterling College. He also led his teams to two KCAC championships and one KCAC tournament championship.

Prior to taking over at Sterling, Jaderston served in the dual role of men's basketball head coach and assistant athletic director at Trinity International University in Deerfield, IL for five seasons.

Before entering the college ranks, he spent eight seasons as both the head girls' basketball and head girls' and boys' tennis coach at Rosemount High School in Rosemount, MN, and 4 years as the head boys' basketball coach at Eastview High School in Apple Valley, MN.

As an athlete Jaderston was a successful college basketball player at Crown College in St. Bonifacius, MN.  He was a four-time all-conference selection while helping the team advance to four national tournaments. He also earned All-America and Academic All-America during his college career. He also competed in tennis for three years at Crown and was a two-time conference singles and three-time conference doubles champion. In 2024 he was inducted into the Crown College Athletic Hall of Fame.

He earned his Bachelor of Arts in History/Secondary Education from Crown College in 1989 and then completed a Master of Arts in Adlerian Counseling and Psychotherapy from Adler Graduate School in 1998.

Jaderston and his wife Julie have been married for 37 years and are active in youth and camping ministries. They currently serve as executive directors of a premier summer Christian family conference called Northern Pines of Minnesota. They have three married sons and eight grandchildren.

Corinna Minjarez enters her sixth season as head coach of the York College women's basketball team.

Minjarez was a graduate assistant coach at York after a two-year playing career for the Panthers. She scored over 1,000 career points at York and was a two-time first-team all-conference selection (MCAC) while setting the school's single-season scoring record.
