Softball Falcons fall in KCAC title game to top-seeded Evangel

Salina, Kan. – The top-seeded and No. 14-ranked Evangel University Valor captured the KCAC postseason tournament championship today (May 1) with an 8-0 win over the Friends University Falcons in Salina, Kan. The Valor entered today undefeated in the tourney, so the Falcons needed two wins to take home the title.

The Valor took control early and were powered by Audrey Carlton's five RBIs, including a three-run double in the second and a solo homer in the fifth. Natalie Morgan then doubled home two of her three runs on the day in the sixth to end the game on the run rule.

Kenna Mayfield had three hits from the top of the order for Evangel, with Morgan and Carlton delivering two hits apiece.

Maddy Meierer pitched six shutout innings for the Valor with five hits allowed and eight strikeouts.

Having already clinched the program's fifth NAIA National Tournament appearance in the last eight years with the three wins yesterday (Apr 30), the Falcons will now await their national tournament opponent and destination on the NAIA Selection Show on May 6 at 5 pm on the NAIA's official YouTube channel.
