Salina, Kan. – The Friends University Falcons will begin action at the KCAC Postseason tournament Wednesday (Apr. 29) in Salina, Kan. The Falcons are the fifth seed and will face fourth-seeded Avila University at approximately 1:30 pm.
The Falcons, last season's KCAC regular season champions, enter postseason action with a 27-18 record overall and went 17-9 in conference play.
After replacing seven of eight all-conference performers from last year, Friends is now playing its best softball of the season, having won eight straight games prior to a 4-3 setback to McPherson College in the regular season finale last Tuesday (Apr. 21).
The 2026 version of the Falcons has been led offensively by the duo of Tamara Lozoya and Cambell Riordan. Lozoya is batting a team-high .454 with six homers and 34 RBIs, while Riordan leads the team in both home runs (nine) and RBIs (46) and ranks second in hitting (.409). Ezra Arredondo (.372) and Izzy Jones (.313) are each batting above the .300 mark.
Jenna Ormiston has anchored the Falcons in the circle with team-best numbers in ERA (3.16), strikeouts (69) and innings pitched (130.2). She enters the postseason on a roll, holding the opposition to just one earned run allowed or fewer in seven of her last nine appearances, including a pair of shutouts during that stretch. Ainsley McGill has proved to be a reliable option in the bullpen and leads the team with three saves on the season.
The Falcons have captured two KCAC tournament titles during head coach Suzanne Unruh's seven-year tenure and last year's conference regular season championship was the program's first since 2016.
