OTTAWA, Kan. —The No. 20-ranked Friends University Falcons (20-4, 14-4) fell at the Ottawa University Braves (15-9, 10-8), 72-62 today (Feb. 7) in Ottawa, Kan. The Falcons are now in a three-way tie with Bethel College and Bethany College for the second spot in the KCAC.
The Falcons were down the whole way, trailing 18-11 at the end of the first period and then 35-29 at the break.
Friends came out strong to begin the second half, getting a three from
Katie Weiss and then five straight points by
KK Peeler to pull even at 37-37.
There were two more gridlocks in the third quarter until a three by Alison Daniels put Ottawa back in front at the 2:13 mark.
Following a score from
Abigail Barr that made it a one-point game, consecutive threes from Miranda Patterson and Daniels proved to be a crucial sequence to end the third period that gave the Braves a seven-point cushion heading to the fourth.
Ottawa carried that late momentum into the final quarter and built the lead up to 12 before the Falcons clawed back within six behind a three by
Lauryn McIver and a three-point play by Barr.
But a three-point play by Daniels and a score from Ashlynn Arnsman helped Ottawa put it out of reach.
The Falcons will now begin a three-game homestand on Wednesday (Feb. 11) vs. Sterling College for a 6 pm tipoff inside the Garvey Center.
