NEW ORLEANS – Friends University Track & Field head coach Henry Brun has been selected as the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) South Central Region Men's Coach of the Year, the organization has announced.
Brun guided the Falcon Men's squad to the conference Indoor Track & Field Championship on Feb. 14 at Wichita State University to also earn KCAC Coach of the Year honors.
The Falcons tallied 168 points as a team, capturing three individual conference titles and then the 4 X 800 relay championship.
Under Brun, the Falcon men and women teams will both be well represented at the upcoming NAIA Indoor Track & Field Championships on Mar. 5-7 in Gainesville, Fla.
"This award is a testament to the strength and commitment of my coaching staff and the cohesiveness we've had this year," said Brun "It has taken all of us to develop the well-rounded group we had this indoor season. I am proud of the work of both my staff and the athletes on the team have put in to fight for a KCAC title and represent Friends at the National Meet. It's icing on the cake when we can take 15 athletes to NAIAs with a chance to contend for All-American status! It's been a blast this indoor season and, if we can stay focused on the process, we can do something really special."
