Wichita, Kan. - The Men's Soccer team went against the Southwestern Christian Eagles for another laboring game on the Falcons. With a total of 22 fouls a piece on each team, and 8 yellow cards handed out.
The first half of this game was filled with lots of takeaways at midfield. The pace was slow with a lot of throw-ins and tacky fouls towards each side. The first half ended up being 0-0, with the Falcons attempting 2 shots and the Eagles with 6.
The second half is where things started to pick up. Louis Dufraiche opened the scoring for this contest 1-0 in the 53rd minute. Just 10 minutes later the Eagles put up another goal making it 2-0. The Falcons weren't going down easily, things got really chippy between the Eagles and the Falcons in this half. 7 yellow cards were given out this half, and a foul in the box gave the Falcons a chance to break their two game scoring drought.
Sora Shibata, was given a penalty kick and he put it in at the 76th minute. He has 2 goals on the season and both are on penalty kicks. This started the momentum for the Falcons and just 5 minutes later a beautiful strike from Andres Michael Xibilia tied the game up 2-2!
The Eagles eventually closed the game out with a goal in the 85th minute, to end the spirits of the Falcons. 3-2 was the final score, and the Falcons will start conference play next game against Southwestern.
The game will be home at Adair-Austin Stadium on Wednesday Sept. 17th, at 5:00 PM.
