WICHITA, Kan. – Playing at home for the final time in the 2025 season, the Friends University Falcons made quick work of the (RV) University of Science and Arts of Oklahoma (USAO) Drovers, winning 4-0 today (Apr. 22) at Westside Athletic Field. Official game time was listed at 2:16.
A host of Falcons contributed to the Drovers being shutout for the first time this season, starting with Max Van Dam, who went four innings and struck out four with three walks and just two hits allowed.
Miles Stringer, Chance Baker, Jackson Walls, Vincent Vigil and Keagan Alejo each followed with a scoreless frame to finish the victory. Stringer followed Van Dam and was credited with the win.
All the offensive support needed came in the fourth inning when Carlos Rodriguez hit a two-out single and wound up scoring on a single by Isaias Urriola for the first run of the game. Spencer Davidson then singled home two more runs to make it 3-0.
A bases loaded walk to Niquan Benjamin in the sixth accounted for the fourth run for Friends.
Bernie Socarras had a double and Tyler Godfrey scored two runs.
"Max set a good tone for the day with four shutout innings," said Friends baseball head coach Adam Neisius. "Our bullpen guys did a nice job, normally pretty tough to shut out any USAO team. We can be better offensively, hopefully that will come around tomorrow vs. Tabor to finish up the regular season schedule."
As Neisius alluded to, the Falcons will next play a makeup game at Tabor College tomorrow (Apr. 23) at 3 pm in Hillsboro, Kan. before competing in the KCAC Postseason Tournament starting next Wednesday (Apr. 30) at Joe Becker Stadium in Joplin, Mo.
The Falcons are now 27-20 overall and are currently fourth in the KCAC with a 20-15 conference mark.
