Wichita, Kan. - Senior pitcher Riley Wertz recorded her 200th strikeout of the season as the Friends University Falcons recorded a pair of 11-1 and 10-2 run-rule victories over the Southwestern College Lady Builders today (Apr. 16) at Two Rivers Youth Complex. Friends wasted no time in the opener, using an 8-run second inning to take control early in an 11–1 run-rule victory over Southwestern. Jayden Estabrook had a 3-RBI game, including a home run, while Elena Montoya, Cadence Magana, and Alex Vick each added multi-hit efforts. The Falcons racked up 11 runs on 11 hits and never let up. In the circle, Wertz was brilliant yet again, tossing a complete game with 11 strikeouts, 1 walk, and just 1 run allowed on 1 hit across 5 innings.
In Game 2 the Falcons stayed hot in Game 2, pounding out 13 hits in another run-rule win to complete the sweep, 10–2. Becca Dunn led the way with 4 RBIs, while Jayden Estabrook and Raeleen Hernandez each had 2 RBIs and extra-base hits. Tamara Lozoya, Izzy Jones, and Elena Montoya all had multi-hit games, contributing to a balanced, aggressive attack. Kierstan Weitze, Jenna Ormiston, and Alex Vick shared the pitching duties, combining to strike out 5 and hold Southwestern to just 3 hits.
