No. 19 Braves salvage final game of series over Baseball Falcons

Ottawa, Kan. – The No. 19-ranked Ottawa University Braves claimed the final game of the season series over the Friends University Falcons in a big way, winning 20-5 today (Apr. 15) in Ottawa, Kan. The Falcons won the series with victories of 11-4 on the road and 10-4 at home over the Braves the past two Tuesdays.

The Falcons are now 25-18 overall and remain in fourth in the KCAC at 19-13 in the league.

A two-run single by Zeke Henson had the Falcons up 3-1 in the second, but Jacquavius Davis hit a two-run homer to ignite a seven-run inning before capping the big frame with a two-run single.

After the Falcons fought back with a two-run single by Bernie Socarras in the third, the Braves responded with a three-run third inning and then broke things open with four runs in the fifth and five more in the sixth.

Niquan Benjamin had three hits for the Falcons and Socarras went 2-of-3 with three RBI.

Davis finished with seven runs driven in for Ottawa and Shaun Gomez homered twice.

The Falcons will now wrap up the KCAC season with a three-game series at McPherson College, starting with a doubleheader Friday (Apr. 18) at noon.
