OTTAWA, Kan. - The No. 24 Friends University Falcons wrapped up the Andy Carrier Memorial Classic in a dominant fashion on Saturday afternoon (Nov. 8), breezing past the William Woods University Owls 97-67 to improve to 3-1 on the season. The Falcons took control early, heading into halftime with a 49-28 lead and never looked back as they cruised to a commanding 30-point victory.
The Falcons put together two strong and efficient halves offensively. Friends shot an impressive 56.9% from the field and 51.9% from behind the arc, connecting on 14 triples as a team. The Falcons shared the ball effectively, recording 24 assists on 37 made field goals, with five players scoring in double figures. Friends also controlled the boards, out rebounding William Woods 42-30.
Defensively, the Falcons stayed solid all game, limiting the Owls to just 39.7% shooting from the floor and 31% from three.
It was a balanced scoring effort across the lineup. Collin Maclin led the way with 17 points on 6-of-9 shooting, including 3-of-4 from behind the arc. Al Emerllahu added 15 points and six rebounds, while Cahlese Lee chipped in 12 points on 5-of-6 shooting along with seven rebounds. Ringo Deng nearly recorded a triple-double with 12 points, eight rebounds, and eight assists, and the Falcons bench provided a spark with Owen Evans hitting 4-of-6 from three to finish with 12 points, and Eli Benning dishing out eight assists for the Falcons.
The Falcons have now won three straight and look to carry that momentum into the start of KCAC play next week. Friends will be back home to face the Evangel University Valor on Saturday (Nov. 15) at 3:00 p.m. inside the Garvey Center.
