WICHITA, Kan. – Friends University senior Jason Bowers has been selected as the KCAC Men's Wrestler of the Week, the conference office announced today (Nov. 17).
Bowers, a Paw Paw Mich. native, defeated Newman's Skyler Geer by majority decision 14-1 to help the Falcons upend the NCAA D-II Jets 27-17 last Wednesday (Nov. 12).
He then went 4-2 at the Grand View Open in the 184-pound Open Division this past weekend, including winning two matches by fall and one by tech fall.
"Jason has true grit and is improving each week!" said Friends men's wrestling head coach Tyler Mies. "We have focused on the hand fight a little more the last couple weeks and it showed this weekend."
Bowers and the No. 24-ranked Falcons will next compete against Oklahoma Wesleyan University and Bethany College for a triangular dual this Thursday (Nov. 20) starting at 5:30 pm inside the Garvey Center.
