Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

Falcons Men’s Soccer falls to top ranked OKWU 3-1

Wichita, Kan. - Friends Falcons Men's Soccer went against their toughest opponent yet this year, No. 3 Oklahoma Wesleyan Eagles. This game was really a tale of two halves with the Falcons giving tons of great defense holding the Eagles to two shot attempts in the first half.

The Eagles scored the opening goal in the first five minutes by the Eagles leading goalscorer, Biel Campo. The Falcons would come up with seven shot attempts in the first half against a touted defense, unable to get one in the net however. The first half would come to a close at 1-0.

The 2nd half is where things got more intense between the two. A total of nine yellow cards were given out in this half and two of them were bench violations. The Eagles grew the lead to three in the 56th and 60th minutes. With the score being 3-0 Friends was not ashamed to get on the statsheet. Sora Shibata was awarded a penalty kick and scored his team leading 5th goal. Shibata is 3 for 3 on penalty kicks this year and has been the most effective scorer for the Falcons. With the score being 3-1 with 20 minutes left, the game just got really chippy and this is where the majority of the cards were given out.

Arturo Pombo-Palomero would end the game with three saves facing 10 total shots attempted. With the final being 3-1 the Falcons dropped another conference match, really giving a valiant effort to a top ranked OKWU squad.

Friends Men's Soccer (1-9-1) KCAC (1-4-1) will stay in Wichita this weekend as they take on Sterling College on Saturday Oct. 11. Kickoff will be at 4:30 PM at Adair-Austin Stadium.
