NEWTON, Kan. – The Friends University Falcons picked up their eighth win of the season this afternoon (Oct. 18), defeating the Bethel College Threshers 4-1. The Falcons went on the road and played a solid game, out shooting the Threshers 14-4. With nine of their 14 shots on goal, the Falcons converted four of them into scores.
The Falcons' defense held the Threshers' offense to only four shots for the game. However, late in the second half, the Threshers were able to get one by for their only score of the match. Aside from that late goal, the Falcons' defense held strong throughout.
Friends' offense was balanced, with four different Falcons finding the back of the net. Off an assist from Solenn Levesque, Pilar Flores was the first to get on the board for the Falcons, scoring the opening goal of the game. This was the only score of the first half, with the Falcons taking a 1-0 lead into the break.
Anahi Ibarra-Arevalo, Kieley Aranda, and Solenn Levesque all scored for the Falcons in the second half to put Friends up 4-0 before Bethel's late goal. By that point, the game was out of reach for the Threshers, as the Falcons went on to earn their sixth conference win with only four more conference games remaining.
The Falcons will be back home next Wednesday (Oct. 22) to take on the Evangel Valor. Kickoff is set for 7:30 p.m. at Adair-Austin Stadium.
