LEAVENWORTH, Kan. – The Friends University Falcons battled the University of Saint Mary Spires to a 1-1 draw on the road Wednesday night (Oct. 1). The Falcons tallied 15 shots, with nine on goal. Anahi Ibarra-Arevalo led the Falcons with 6 shots, 4 of them coming on goal.
The Spires struck first in the opening half, but the Falcons were able to answer when Paige Putter scored off an assist from Solenn Levesque at the 39:14 mark, sending the teams into halftime tied 1-1.
Friends tightened up defensively in the second half, holding the Spires scoreless. The Falcons generated four more shots after the break but couldn't find the back of the net, and the match ended in a 1-1 draw.
The Falcons return to action on Saturday (Oct. 4), traveling to York, Neb., to face the York University Panthers at 1:00 p.m.
