Women’s Soccer Falcons open up KCAC action with 1-0 victory at Tabor

Hillsboro, Kan. – Anahi Ibarra-Arevalo picked a fine time for her first career goal, delivering a game-winning score in the second half to propel the Friends University Falcons to a 1-0 win at Tabor College in the KCAC opener today (Sept. 22) in Hillsboro, Kan.

Ibarra-Arevalo's goal came in the 71st minute off an assist from Pilar Flores to snap a 0-0 gridlock.

"Pilar was fantastic tonight, she created the goal by being tough and winning possession back in our final third of the field," said Friends women's soccer head coach Brent Hobson. "She set up Anahi, who had an incredible goal to open her collegiate scoring account. That's a moment she'll remember. Lauryn (Erickson) and Pilar did so well in the middle for us, for me those two helped us control the second half and ultimately get the 1-0 lead. We're happy to get three points on the road, we now need to recover and prepare for Wednesday."

Morgan Wilkinson made four saves to help the Falcons (4-2, 1-0 KCAC) keep the Bluejays off the board for 90 minutes. Neve Mulrooney also stopped four shots with the one goal allowed for Tabor.

The Falcons outshot the Bluejays 12-7 overall and held a 5-4 edge on-goal.

As Hobson alluded to, next up is the conference home opener against Evangel University Wednesday night (Sept. 25). Kickoff will be a 5 pm at Adair-Austin Stadium.
