WICHITA, Kan. – The Ottawa University Braves defeated the Friends University Falcons 14-2 today (Apr. 16) in the series finale at West Side Athletic Field.
Nicholas Sizemore doubled in the first run of the game for the Braves in the second inning and then scored on a single by Liam Vulcano.
DJ Killion answered with an RBI single that plated Zeke Henson in the bottom of the second to put the Falcons on the board, but Marcellus Pearson singled home two runs in the third to finish off a four-run frame and put Ottawa in control up 6-1.
A two-run single by Vulcano then keyed a three-run fifth inning and another RBI single by Sizemore helped the Braves score two more in the sixth to break things open.
After Henson singled in Niquan Benjamin in the sixth, Blaine Thomas hit a three-run home run for Ottawa in the eighth to put a cap on the win for the Braves.
Benjamin led the Falcons with a pair of hits on the day, while Sizemore and Jackson Alaniz each went 3-of-5 with two runs scored for Ottawa (24-20, 17-13 KCAC).
The Falcons, now 28-17 and 19-14 in the KCAC, will look to get back on track in a home weekend series against McPherson College that will begin Friday afternoon (Apr. 19) at 3 pm.
