Men's Basketball Falcons fall at No. 17 Oklahoma Wesleyan

Bartlesville, Okla. -- The Friends University Falcons fell 82-58 at the No. 17-ranked Oklahoma Wesleyan University Eagles tonight (Nov. 20) in Bartlesville, Okla. 

Randy Woolf, Jr. led the team with a career-high 14 points, making 5 of 8 from the field and 3 of 5 from three-point range. Ring Deng recorded three steals and Cahlese Lee contributed with two steals. Josh Price was effective from beyond the arc, hitting 3 of 5 3-pointers and scored 11 points. 

In the first half, the Eagles established an early lead and maintained momentum throughout. The home team started strong with Nick Bene hitting a 3-pointer, contributing to their initial 6-3 lead. Oklahoma Wesleyan continued to build their advantage, with Derrick Talton Jr. and Jaden Lietzke making consecutive free throws to push the score to 12-5. The Eagles built a 22-point lead with 24 seconds left in the half before settling for a 47-27 advantage at the break. The Eagles' bench, contributing 20 points, and their 22 points in the paint were significant factors in their first half lead.

OKWU continued to pull away in the second half and extended to a 27-point advantage at the 15:06 mark. Talton Jr. was again a key player, contributing multiple steals and hitting a 3-pointer to extend their lead and close out the win. 

Talton Jr. led the Eagles with 17 points, seven assists, and three steals. He shot 6-for-12 from the field, including three 3-pointers. Bene contributed with 14 points, hitting 6 of 7 shots, including two from beyond the arc. Lietzke added 10 points and Temaje Izuabe was effective on the boards, collecting nine rebounds for the Eagles (5-2, 2-0 KCAC). 

The Falcons, now 4-2 and 1-1 in the KCAC, will next face York University for their conference home opener Saturday night (Nov. 23) at 7 pm inside the Garvey Center.
