Men’s Basketball Falcons thump Kansas Christian 107-78

Ottawa, Kan. – KJ Spiller poured in a career-high 30 points to lead the Friends University Falcons to a 107-78 victory over the Kansas Christian College Falcons today (Nov. 1) in action at the Andy Carrier Memorial Basketball Classic at Ottawa University in Ottawa, Kan.

Spiller got going early, scoring the first six points of the game.

With the lead at 17-14, Spiller converted a three-point play to jumpstart a 12-2 burst that pushed the lead to 13 points.

The Falcons continued to stretch out the lead, as a three by Ring Deng built the edge to 42-22 and a three-point play by Randy Woolf, Jr. ballooned the lead up to 53-25 at the break.

Friends was never threatened in the second half and built the lead as high as 33 on three occasions.

Spiller's efficiency—11-of-17 from the field and 3-of-5 from beyond the arc—was instrumental in the Falcons' offensive dominance. His ability to control the boards was equally impactful, as he posted 13 rebounds and contributed to Friends' 50 total rebounds compared to Kansas Christian's 27.

The Falcons also got 11 points apiece from Woolf, Jr., Deng, Josh Price and Al Emerllahu. Woolf, Jr. and Kee'on Hutton each recorded a team-high four assists.

Kaiden Hunter led four players in double-figure scoring for Kansas Christian with 24 points, while Isaac Lane had a team-leading seven boards.

The Falcon defense held Kansas Christian to 44.8% shooting from the field and forced 11 turnovers.

Friends also controlled the glass, out-rebounding KCC 50-27 that included 20 offensive boards.

The Falcons will continue action in Ottawa tomorrow (Nov. 2) vs. Calvary University.
