WICHITA, Kan. – The No. 9-ranked Oklahoma Wesleyan University Eagles stayed unbeaten in the KCAC with a 3-0 win over the Friends University Falcons this evening (Oct. 9) at Adair-Austin Stadium. The loss snaps the Falcons' 18-game regular season winning streak in the KCAC.
The first half was played to a standstill until the Eagles broke through with just one second left when Alana Doherty scored off a corner kick assist from Tania Mocholi.
Friends had several scoring opportunities in the opening half, including a great chance with 11:14 left when Alex Fonseca found Keily Larosee for a shot in the box, but Carlota Alcalde made a diving save.
The Eagles maintained that late momentum when Mocholi scored just 1:21 into the second half and then got behind the defense to score again at the 54:07 mark to put things away for OKWU.
OKWU outshot the Falcons 16-9 overall and 12-6 on-goal, led by seven shots and five shots-on-goal by Mocholi. Larosee had a team-leading five shots and four shots-on-goal for the Falcons.
Morgan Wilkinson made nine saves in the net for Friends (8-3, 5-1 KCAC), with Alcalde stopping six shots for OKWU (10-0-2, 7-0 KCAC).
The Falcons will next be in action Saturday (Oct. 12) starting at 1 pm at Sterling College.
