Balanced offensive attack keys Women’s Soccer Falcons 7-1 rout of Sterling

Sterling, Kan. – The Friends University Falcons delivered a convincing 7-1 victory over the Sterling College Warriors behind seven different goal scorers today (Oct. 12) in Sterling, Kan.

The Falcons jumped out early, netting five goals in the first half, with three more coming in the second.

Kylie Lewis opened the scoring in the 18th minute with a goal assisted by Elise Murrietta.

Murrietta then quickly followed with a goal of her own just 38 seconds later.

By the 23rd minute, Lauryn Erickson, Kieley Aranda, and Keily Larosee had each added goals, making it 5-0 at halftime.

Friends continued to dominate in the second half, with Lina Willemsen scoring in the 54th minute and Trinity Granger capping the tally with her first career goal in the 69th minute.

Sterling's lone goal came in the 84th minute from Emma Bartha, assisted by Dakota Reid.

The Falcons outshot the Warriors by a whopping 31-4, led by five shots apiece from Larosee and Willemsen along with four shot attempts by Emaree Gibson.

Nia Baker made two saves for Friends while Elysa Apen (eight saves) and Dixie Morgan (five saves) combined for 13 stops for Sterling.

The Falcons, now 9-3 overall and 6-1 in the KCAC, will next play at Southwestern College Wednesday evening (Oct. 16) at 5 pm in Winfield, Kan.
